There's a side fight in Khari Crossing that a lot of players think about skipping, then regret later. Akthi, the Final Sting, and Anundr, the Sandworm, show up during Clearing the Way, and the reward is too good to ignore. A Book of Specialisation means permanent power, which matters way more than a bit of lost time or a few flasks. If you've been farming PoE 2 Currency and trying to smooth out your build, this is one of those encounters that actually pays you back in the long run. The fight looks like a simple two-boss brawl at first. It isn't. What really makes it rough is how quickly the arena starts working against you.

The first thing to fix is your kill priority. Most people lock onto Akthi because she's the one charging in, swiping, and making every second feel urgent. That's a trap. Anundr needs to go first. He's the reason the arena turns into a mess of quicksand and poison, and if you leave him alive too long, the whole fight gets smaller and nastier by the second. You'll notice it pretty fast. Safe ground disappears. Dodge paths get awkward. Then Akthi suddenly feels twice as hard, even though nothing about her moveset changed. Burst the worm down early, and the encounter settles into something you can actually control.

Movement here isn't just about panic-rolling when something pops up. You want a route. Wide circles around the outside of the arena usually work best, because they let you keep both bosses in view instead of guessing where one of them went. That matters a lot once Akthi starts burrowing. If she vanishes, look for dust or ground movement and roll right away, not after you've confirmed it. Waiting that extra beat usually gets you clipped. It also helps to check your poison resistance before you walk in. You don't need perfect gear, but if your resistance is bad, those poison pools will chew through you much faster than expected.

Once Anundr is down, the fight has a completely different rhythm. Akthi is still dangerous, sure, but now you've got room to read her instead of scrambling for a clean patch of floor. Her tail swipe covers more space than people expect, so don't stand glued to her flank for too long. She'll also throw venom in a cone, which is much easier to avoid if you're already moving sideways instead of backing straight off. That's really the theme of the whole encounter: don't get greedy. Hit once or twice, reposition, then go again. Trying to squeeze in extra damage usually costs more health than it's worth.

Even if it takes a couple of attempts, this is still one of those side encounters worth learning properly. The extra passive points help every build, and the fight itself teaches good habits for later bosses: focus the real threat, watch the floor, and don't let the arena dictate your panic. A lot of players come back after gearing up, but honestly, with decent movement and the right target choice, you can handle it earlier than you think. And if you're already looking at ways to speed up the rest of your progression, mixing smart boss clears with poe2 power leveling strategies makes the campaign feel a lot less punishing without turning every zone into a slog.
